Plein Air Painting Event - Altoona, PA
Share
There is something magical about a painting born entirely outdoors—the brushstrokes are faster, the colors are truer, and the energy of the landscape is literally pressed into the wet paint. On Friday, May 22 through Saturday, May 23, I’m thrilled to be competing in my very first Plein Air event at ArtsAltoona, and I would love for you to be part of the journey.
Watch the Process
Unlike a traditional gallery showing, this is a "behind-the-curtain" look at how I work. You’ll find me out in the area of Altoona, PA from Friday, May 22nd through Saturday, May 23rd, battling the shifting sun to capture the soul of the natural and urban landscapes of the Altoona area in real time on canvas. If you’ve ever wondered how a scene transforms from a blank board to a finished work of art in just a few hours, come say hello!

Own a Piece of the Moment
The best part of these events? The Wet Paint Sale. All the works created during the competition will be hung for a special exhibition immediately following the "canvas call" open to the public, on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the ArtsAltoona Center.

Because these pieces are painted on-site, they possess a raw, spontaneous quality that studio work can rarely replicate. It’s a unique opportunity to collect a one-of-a-kind memory of Altoona, Pa while the paint is still practically wet.
